Hydraulic systems use fluids subjected to pressure to generate, control and transfer energy. They are found in presses, elevators, lifting platforms and many other industrial applications.

Alongside a number of packaged, ready-to-use sensors with a standardized output or what are known as transmitters* based on a silicon sensing element with an oil seal, AMSYS also supplies piezoceramic sensors with evaluation electronics for measuring pressure in hydraulic plants and devices. These are particularly suitable for use in high pressure ranges. The sensors are used to control and monitor the hydraulic systems in the following example machines, among others:

  • Construction machinery (cranes, diggers)
  • Utility vehicles
  • Machine tools
  • Mobile work tools

Construction machinery

These machines require pressure sensors which satisfy the demands of the construction industry (heavy duty applications). This means robust materials, standard contacts and EMC immunity, etc., expressed in approval for use in heavy industry.

  • Transmitters* with industrial, analog output signals are used as sensors which have to measure pressures within a range of 10 bar to way above 100 bar. Ceramic sensors are used in the high pressure range especially.

Utility vehicles

Utility vehicles use hydraulic pressure to move loading platforms, trailers and support devices.

  • In these applications transmitters* which have a pressure range of < 50 bar must be used to satisfy the requirements of heavy industry (heavy industry CE) and the automotive industry.

Machine tools

This term refers to machinery which can manufacture objects and workpieces using various tools (processing units). It includes cutters, lathes and presses, etc.

  • Depending on the required function pressure transmitters* are used for the various types of pressure and in the upper pressure range of >1 bar.

Mobile work tools

This type of machinery is not only found in the construction industry but also in agriculture and forestry, land development and road engineering. The same sensor specifications apply here as to those used in construction machinery.

  • Transmitters* with industrial, analog output signals are used as sensors which have to measure pressures within a range of 10 bar to way above 100 bar. Ceramic sensors are used in the high pressure range especially.

*Transmitters are calibrated, amplified, ready-to-use sensors with a standardized output in a package for direct installation.
