Negative pressure wound therapy or NPWT can be used on patients with large wounds and especially on those suffering from severe burns to speed up the healing process and reduce the risk of infection. By creating a slight negative pressure in the wound area fluid is drawn out from the wound and the healing conditions are considerably improved.
