AMS 6832 analog/digital low pressure sensor

With a footprint of only 7.6 x 7.2 mm², the AMS 6832 sensors housed in a DIL-6 package are the smallest differential pressure sensors on a robust ceramic substrate. At the same time, they offer a 24-bit I²C as well as an ratiometric analog output for pressure values. The temperature data is available as a 13-bit value. The tiny pressure sensors  are designed for precision pressure measurements in the low and very low pressure range and are available for pressure ranges from 125 Pa to 100 mbar. AMSYS thus offers a pressure sensor that combines the highest analog measurement accuracy with an extremely small package.

The pressure sensors are extensively calibrated and compensated, featuring extremely small measurement errors at room temperature as well as a very low total error in the compensated temperature range of -25 to 85 °C of only 0.5 to 2 %FS (depending on the pressure range). To simplify commissioning and initial testing, the USB Starter Kit AMS 6832 is available which allows direct measurements via a Windows PC and simple I²C address configuration of the sensors.

Pressure variants and ranges of the AMS 6832:

Ultra-low pressure differential / relative: 0 .. 250; 0 .. 500, 0 .. 1000 and 0 .. 1250 Pa;
Ultra-low pressure bidirectional differential: ±125; ±250; ±500, ±1000 and ±1250 Pa
Low pressure differential / relative: 0 .. 20, 0 .. 35, 0 .. 50 and 0 .. 100 mbar
Low pressure bidirectional differential: ±20, ±35, ±50 and ±100 mbar

For higher pressure ranges, the AMS 6915 (I²C) respectively AMS 6916 (analog) in DIP-8 package are available.

Compared with the analog/digital AMS 5812 — which is ideally suited for medical applications featuring a ceramic cap and stainless-steel pressure ports—the AMS 6832 offers a space-saving alternative with a modern ASIC in a plastic housing.

USB Starter Kit AMS 6832: Accessories for easy commissioning via USB interface of a PC, for programming an individual I2C bus address, and for graphical representation on the PC.

Note: The AMS 6832 can be custom calibrated regarding the pressure range as well as for lower supply voltages. Special designs, such as different pressure connections, are also available upon request.

You will find more detailed explanations regarding the general design and function principle of these pressure sensors in our whitepapers section.
