Barometric pressure sensors are used to measure the air pressure.
The ambient pressure is measured against a vacuum, which is located in the measuring cell. Thus, these are absolute pressure sensors intended for the special pressure range between 700 and 1’200 mbar. With the help of barometric sensors, the atmospheric altitude can be determined very accurately (Altimeter).
The AMSYS range of barometric pressure sensors extends from simple uncompensated silicon cells to OEM sensors to high-precision amplified transmitters (ready-to-use sensors) with standard output values.

For barometric measurements, absolute pressure sensors can also be used. The result will then be slightly less accurate due to the calibrations to a pressure range between 0-1,000 mbar or 0-2,000 mbar, in contrast to barometric pressure sensors, which are intended for the pressure range between 700 and 1,200 mbar.
